Working out is NOT just about looking good; it's also about feeling good. I have always been a big believer that exercising is good for the body, MIND, and soul. Whenever, I feel stressed or anxious, I increase the intensity of my running and weight routine. The vigorous workout does wonders for my mood and spirit. That is why I was not surprised when I read in the January 2014 issue of University of California at Berkeley's Wellness Letter that :
"Exercise can reduce depression in many people and may even help prevent it in the first place, two recent reviews have confirmed." The letter went on to explain "...that an analysis by the independent Cochrane Collaboration, based on 35 studies, concluded that exercise is moderately effective for reducing depressive symptoms, often as useful as medication and psychological therapy."
So, the next time you are feeling down, put on your sneaks and go for a run or brisk walk or hit the gym! You're bound to feel better!
If you are feeling symptoms of overwhelming sadness for more than a couple of weeks and exercise and natural therapies do not work, please seek the help of a medical professional!
Remember, Bee Fitters, food (NOT just what's on a plate) determines how we feel and heal!
