There is something great about new beginnings. The start of the new year is one such time, when the past is an increasingly foggy memory and the future offers the clarity and promise of possibility. We are now arrived at the time for plans, so take a moment to evaluate yours!
It is important to be honest with yourself when setting out goals. I usually jot down three areas of my life that I want to improve with three manageable goals for each group (For example, Business, Health, Family; it's my 3x3 plan!). What I mean by manageable is that I don't set out to accomplish goals that are unrealistic or just downright outlandish. The key is to make changes that are lasting and realistic. For example, if you have never climbed a mountain before, don't commit to climbing Kilimanjaro. A more realistic goal would be to sign up for several rock climbing classes or commit to hiking several times each month. My intention is NOT to squash dreams here, I just want you to be realistic and have success in achieving your goals. Building upon first time accomplished and manageable goals is a great way to see those extravagant ones come to fruition in the future.
One great way to stay motivated each day is to create a vision board, or even more simply, come up with a word for the year that will help you realize your goals. Display your board or post a word on your bulletin board or anywhere near your desk where you will see it frequently.The daily affirmation may help you stay focused. Last year my word was COMMITMENT. This year, I choose the same word, BUT, I will also be ACCOUNTABLE to the bee fit community! I am an avid runner, so I will be posting my monthly miles to keep track of my New Year's goal of reaching 2200 miles!
