With the cold and flu season upon us, it's important to eat healthy foods that are going to boost your immune system. My favorite juice to help zap out the sniffles is my Cold Buster Juice. It's a beverage made from chopped cantaloupe, blueberries, and cinnamon.
Six ounces of cantaloupe contain only 50 calories and has 100% of your daily recommended requirements of vitamin C and A. Vitamin C is known to boost the immune system and Vitamin A is an essential nutrient for smoother looking skin and for keeping mucous membrane cells healthy. When membranes are healthy, they stay moist and resistant to cell damage. Bacteria and viruses are then unable to take hold.* Cantaloupes are very high in water concentration which means they will help you stay hydrated. Blueberries, like cantaloupes, are high in vitamin C and magnesium.
Feeling a cold coming on!? Then try my juice recipe.
One cup of frozen blueberries
One cup of chopped cantaloupe
1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1 cup of water infused with electrolytes ( Smart Water, works ).
Place all ingredients in a blender or juicer. Blend on high until the mixture is a smooth liquid. Pour into a glass and enjoy!
If you have a loved one who is feeling under the weather, pour the juice into a fancy jar and decorate-it's sure to lift their spirits, which is important in combating any flu bug.
Remember, Bee Fitters, food determines how we feel and heal!
