Substitution, NOT Deprivation!
I know that fasting has been practiced for hundreds of years, but in my opinion it can be dangerous for some people, especially those who have health issues and do not already eat healthy and have a strong constitution. I know, I know...it sounds so easy; just say no to solid food and stick to lemon water or whatever concoction you are following from your juice fasting recipe book, and you can lose a quick 10, 15, or 20 pounds depending on your fasting schedule and body type. But beware of these harmful consequences:
~ Fasting is quick, but the weight you are losing is water weight, NOT substantial body weight. As quickly as the weight went off, the weight will come back on once you start eating solid food.
~If you have kidney disease or other serious health ailments, fasting can make you even weaker and may further compromise your immune system.
~ Fasting or extreme dieting creates a negative relationship with food. Deprivation is NOT a solution.
If you really want to lose weight in a healthy fashion, follow these "bee-fit" steps!
~ Clean out your kitchen cabinets and refidgerator of all junk, processed foods.
~ Consume an organic, plant based diet( 85-90%) that includes lots of leafy greens, beans, and nuts; this will ensure you are getting enough protein, fiber, and nutrients, while leaving you feeling full.
~ Drink plenty of water~ Aim for 1/2 your body weight in ounces per day.
~ Get plenty of exercise, at least one hour a day most days of the week.
~ Reduce salty food intake. It only makes you hungrier!
